I Put them in a Box

Within me is a treasure box that holds the fondest memories I shared with you.

I put the memories we shared
In a pink box with care.
Contemplated–I did.
Deliberated–internally, two sages did.
In hand is a blue Sharpie,
to mark or not to mark
Fragile or history?
Instead,
Written in bold, italic, w/underline
Is your name,
For in the box is our true story.
Separated good from bad—no, I di’n’t.
Labeled high or low—no, I di’n’t.
Simply, goods and highs are in.
Simply deep within:
A copier built-in,
And true copies of ours are in.

The Joys of Summer

(Originally published on August 14, 2019)

Longer days of the glorious sun

leaning into north

illuminating the earth so bright

bringing clear blue skies alight

‘til night.

And on the shore of Lanikai,

two bask in warmth:

Dare to bare—

they’re contemporaries

of the golden sand.

The scent of ocean, the tang

of young,

the aroma of mustards and molasses—

In summer air,

freedom is found.

Summer is the effortless influencer:

Priceless joy

lies in simple things–

I dare not

to be grand.

Prayer · Writing True

Eternally Yours

Almighty Father,

in You, I put my trust.

Heal me from my iniquities;

Heal me from my pains–

Give me strength in the face of adversities

and to choose the right path come what may.

Let me not be troubled of worldly things;

Let me not be deceived of insignificant–

Remind me–always

I am here for Your glory, Thy humble servant.

Bring me hope and joy;

Bring me contentment and peace—

Walk me through Your ways–

in faith each day of my life, please.

Make me live purposefully;

Make me love without fear

nor, regret neither, slightest thought of reciprocity

Just as You love us, all unconditionally.

Thank You, Father

for everything and everyone you send my way;

Thank You, Father

for this blog, my happy place.

I love You.

Eternally Yours,

This tiny me

To You be all the glory.

Nature’s Moral Stories IX

The great mighty lion,

the lone

king, who rules the jungle,

swaggers as natural a..hole instilling fears.

Stranger to happiness, his roars;

his groans echoes reality. Loneliness sore.

The head-turner stunning peafowl

showing off her iridescent plumage to all.

Although beauty exude naturally,

but if it presents danger obviously,

who would dare get close? Nobody.

Vanity is repellent.

Ever busy,

the ants are always with companies.

Ever collaborative, productive, hardworking little fellows,

they never live in mellow.

They maybe tiny in size; but

they’re giants in matters of labor.

Ever building,

the beavers are born architects/engineers/landscapers.

Ever in action,

painstakingly they create dams, canals, and lodges

seemingly without exhaustion,

while unselfishly opening them to others—-now, that is noble!

Pride is a difficult man

always wearing a facade.

He dare sings Sinatra’s My Way all the time;

but he’s always flat no matter what time.

Humility is a woman of grace.

She is meek as bermuda;

She is accepting as an autumn leaf;

as resilient as the willow tree;

and as virtuous as the water in every stream.

Where Is Peace?

Many die in vain;
And only a few in hope remains.
The cynic says,
It belongs to fairy tales.
But the faithful is steadfast
in pursuing it every day.

So where is peace?
Certainly,
it’s not in pride and prejudice,
as Lizzy and Darcy
only exist in Austen’s masterpiece.

You see: Wars are the results
of bad communication skills;
of endless bickering and bragging,
and power grabbing–
it’s exhausting!

So where is peace?
Not in the streets,
where crusaders march for justice
for the man whose last words were,
”I can’t breathe.”
Sadly, four are missing ears.

The thing with peace,
as you think of it
in grandest means,
it gets elusive
and harder to achieve.

So to simplify,
I pulled my Pink
PJ up to my knees.
I tightly close my eyes and put on the Beats.
I set Over the Rainbow to repeat
and there it goes:
in zzzzzz
I found peace.

Who Is Important?

Are you important?

Are they important?

Am I important?

Am I?

Define important.

Define importance.

Don’t rely on Merriam.

Don’t rely on Oxford.

That’s why you’re mistaken–

You think they know all.

Are looks important?

Are colors important?

My looks can’t stand the mirror;

My skin is brown–

I am in Hawai’i–

I cannot avoid the sun.

But it does not mean

I am blind

To see what is done.

Prejudice

Is a blind spot,

Men can’t simply overcome.

Rephrase,

rephrase,

What is important?

A. Lives

B. Respect

C. Equality

D. Empathy

E. All of the above.

Indignity is a crime against humanity;

It’s an insult to civility.

Sincerely

The old adage bears
not a single gray hair:

Comes existence,
comes reason.
Just be present
in every season.

Sometimes season’s a friend;
Sometimes a nemesis,
for even love is at the mercy
of hours and minutes.

Though often pictured with pitchforks,
no faculty
can out strength
the lessons of adversities.

Though we chose
to walk in separate paths,
in truth, success or not–what we had
made us better people. . .

So head straight.
So love with no remorse,
no fear,
nor second thought. . .

And I will just look at the stars thinking of you a little,
perhaps hoping you’re looking
up and thinking of me too a little .

Then I inhale the universe.
I am beholden.
I am thankful;
for the very wonderful gift of you.

Thank you!

Covid’s Silver Linings

Summer is just around the corner. And this provides us hope that dramatically, the horrific tolls of Corona virus would soon go down even in the absence (yet) of cure and vaccine. In exhibit of that hope, here in the United States, all fifty states have just reopened economies. Although there are modifications in the way to do business; bottom line, many are back in business. Sure, we feel and think adversely of the Corona virus considering the precious lives we lost and its “whips and beatings” to economies worldwide. However, given its magnitude and impact, it is fair to consider the lessons we learned out of this modern-day contagion and its silver linings–to make good out of this. With that being said, please allow me to share some of them below.

Our lives are intertwined.
Amid geographical distances and our countless differences, such as races, colors, religions, sexual orientations, and forms of government—take it or leave it: We are very much connected. In fact, the virus spread in all continents; and every nation is measuring morbidity and mortality to date.

Our bodies are subject to frail immunities.
From our elders, to the physically challenged, to our youngsters: Corona virus did not make any exemption.For example, just the other night, the CBS’s evening news with Norah O’Donnell featured a Caucasian male nurse who use to looked like a body builder and ended coming fresh from famine.

Our homes are the safest place to be.
We were reminded that the roofs-over-our-heads do provide both shelter and refuge. Because it was through Covid-19 and stay-home-orders that we were able to bond with our families while keeping ourselves safe. Also, personally speaking, it was a joy to see moms-and-daughters, fathers-and-sons, families are doing all hilarious things on Tiktok all for fun during lockdowns.

Our governments are in-charged.
Although it is empirical to heed to our authorities; In return, our respective governments must fully, responsibly and efficiently take charge during the crisis. Because in reality, no one–can man—a menace—of global scale—such as Covid-19–solely on its own. The greatest attestation to this was the case of late Chinese doctor who discovered the virus, Li Wenliang, MD who was allegedly threatened and tried to silence by his government. Regardless, of the truth, may he rest in peace.

Our health workers are heroes.
That doing something heroic is not limited to grabbing guns and rifles and to exchange fires in fight for glories. For in this trying time, our health workers are the new heroes. We hardly appreciate them in the past. It’s not only in this pandemic that they put aside their own lives to save lives. They truly deserve more than our appreciation.

We can slow down climate change.
Another Covid’s silver linings: With clear skies and less cars on the roads, of course, carbon emissions turn low. And although, it is not enough to make an ambitious claim that climate change is halted—it shows that we are capable of solutions.

Internet is a gift to humanity.
Also, now more than ever, we should appreciate the International Network. Because during this pandemic, we get things done through the help of Internet.

Conclusion
Seriously and lastly, though our battle with Covid-19 is very much far from over, we should give ourselves credit for coming together and for doing our best to control its menacing. We should all treasure the lessons we learned this Spring of2020. Let us put them to meaningful use. Take for example, through social distancing: We learned unnecessary touches are quite often unnecessary. Another one: Indeed, health is wealth. And part of it is good hygiene too, such as regular hand washing, which should not be optional—because it can even be lifesaving. Furthermore, on health, we must strengthen our immunities.

On traveling, we have been up in the air at the expense of Mother Earth, when we can experience and learn culture and even do commerce through the many inexpensive ways of the Internet.

Finally, we, the ever profound humanity, have battled and championed leprosy, smallpox,tuberculosis,and many more other outbreaks through resilience and relentless pursuit for cure. And we are doing it again. We just have to be confident of its feasibility. For today, we are more geared and able though the help of sophisticated technology and not to mention, many brilliant minds with wand like fingers.

Most importantly, we should not doubt that this too will pass. For now, we just have to take care of ourselves and each others. And, believe that we will get through this.

Stay safe everyone. I love you guys! Thank you for all your support. I am always humbled.

To God be all the glory! Aloha kakou.
