Earth’s Greatest Legacy

HGenome

In the vast savanna of Africa,
I came to life.
But unlike my cousins,
who lived million years
before me,
I did not inhabit the trees.

I hunted and joined gatherers,
so I may live.
I roamed and thrived in Africa,
and colonized
all corners of the world
through persistence hunting
and the agility
of my bipedal feet.

I survived wilderness
through the culture
more powerful than the blood
running in my stream.

A victim of melting ice
and rising sea levels,
I had to walk and walk
as a nomad,
until I found the rich soils
to plant the foods
I needed for heat.

Though constantly bullied
by climate change,
I knew:
No matter what,
I should be the guardian
of nature,
or a loyal friend at least,
but never as an enemy.

Tricked by the worldly side of me,
I was once a slave
of my whims and needs.

A prisoner of material possessions
and temporal needs,
I hurt Mother Earth
and compromised my life
and all lives
just to live.

Guilty as charged,
and stricken by greed,
I am responsible
for the evil profusion of CO2,
Misuse and abuse of chemicals
and GMO too.

Indeed,
I am what I am.
But I can overcome my flaws;
and, still be the best
that I can be. . .

For amid it all,
I still can mend
the wounds
I cause this world,
for I am endowed
by knowledge and wisdom,
and this power
right at my finger tips.

To heal myself,
this world
and the universe
from all iniquities,
is now
my utmost priority.

I am
Homo sapien
to scientists;
a man
to many;
And,
I am Earth’s
greatest legacy,
and I will always be
.

She

lotus

. . .to all the fellow She’s of WordPress, and of the world.

I

The lotus
whose beauty,
divinity
candor,
and grace,
always brings
sunshine
even
on rainy days—

II

The pretty,
little dainty
who loves
pigtails,
new dresses
lollipops
and fairytale,
but will never
trade your lap
and
warm embrace—

III

The chic high-schooler
who loves mini-skirts,
lip glosses,
Blush-ons,
Roses,
and serenades—

IV

The selfless Fiancée
who would give up
the world
to wear your ring,
and say
“I do,”
come what may.

V

Her eyes mirror
her yearning soul;
Her smiles are
ever glorious
and bright;
Her tears
so crystal clear
and could melt
the stiffest heart
be afar
or near.

VI

She carried you
in her womb;
She fed you
with her blood;
She sang you
a lullaby
for so many nights.

So love her—
Cherish her—
Coz though
she is,
what she is–
SHE is a gift–
so, you must
love her!

This Deep Thing

If you can measure
How big and deep the Pacific ocean is;
How big and deep the Arctic ocean is;
How big and deep the Indian ocean is;
The Southern,
The Mariana,
And the Atlantic,
And add their figures–
Add the ones that are yet to discover–
Add them altogether–
If you can,
If can
Then you probably know
How big and deep
Is my love for you. . .

But
No matter how your numbers sum up to;
No matter how doubts may deceive you
Baby,
Not all love remains this true!

Ebb Tide

Haikus

I

As unstoppable

as the receding tide, hands

are waving goodbye.

II

Critical period

of high and low water–flows

away from the shore.

III

Shallow water’s back

To sea; inevitable

as our destiny.

IV

No matter how sad,

Have the courage to say bye,

For when it is gone. . .

It’s gone!
No trace;
No memory!

I Love You All the Way

With the entirety of my being:
from the innermost core of my heart;
to the very depth of my soul;
amidst dire barricades,
despite grand walls,
inspite of any given facts,
regardless of screaming differences,
notwithstanding what will come along,
be in hell or in high waters,
I love you.
I will always love you,
always, always will. . .

All the way.

Say

Say what you mean,
and mean what you say.
Don’t talk nonsense.
Speak with weight.
Don’t talk in haze,
Speak straight.

You may write an essay,
or a play,
for a broadway,
in a hallway,
or a driveway,
freeway,
highway,
byway,
in whatever ways,
just write and say
your heart out.

Never talk like doomsday;
avoid cliché.
Speak with grace.
Never brag;
No one listens to proud.
Say and be glad
for the voice,
the message,
and the gut.

I Can’t Smile Without You

20120928-162506.jpg

The air that I breathe;
The rainbow that brightens my day;
The summer breeze that warms my cheeks;
The dream that keeps me going;
The delight of my eyes;
The music of my soul;
The joy of my heart;
My loyal fan;
My best friend;
My faithful lover;
My fantasy;
My reality;
My life;
My everything,
Is YOU!
And that’s how big your role in my life!
Without you,
I can’t smile,
Neither, grin.
Without you,
Life has no meaning.
Without you,
I can’t go on living.

Loving You

Morning,
Noon,
And night
I think of you;

Dreaming
Not just at night,
But in broad daylight too.

As I am really praying
For every good thing
We’ll share our whole “life” through.

Movies, with or without popcorn;
Walking, be along the beach,
At the mall, or busy streets;
Dining, in candlelights or “cheap eats;”
Cocktail, with or without *pupu,
I think, I am fine with those too.
Coz I just wanna be with you.

Though I have nothing grand to offer you,
My Boo,
Rest assured,
I will always be here for you,
Not just as a lover,
But your best friend too!

Being with you,
Is all I wanna do,
My Baby Boo,
I so love you!

*pupu (Hawaiian) means appetizer.
