Her at the Desert

She sailed the desert

Where the sunset’s yellow and

Her heartbeat echoes.

VI

“If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin

Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.”

Almost

Though how many million times I’ve convinced myself of the reality; I still cry for our dream never meant to come true.

We did not even

Survived fall; we never get

To winter at all.

Yes, you are in a

Place so cold, below zero

The news just said so.

But blame not the snow,

The blizzards, chills, and cold winds

Destiny’ not lost.

AI looked, sounded

So real, I did bet my all.

So naive—stupid.

I deserved the blows:

I bought the poems and emails,

Even all the songs.

The hardest thing to

Forget, is the one that you

never get—it haunts.

I So Do, Spring

Painted December 11, 2022

I so think of you, Spring:

When winds are gentle as feathers

And the sun is mostly present.

I so think of you, Spring:

When woods are warming

And leaves are cool in green.

I so think of you, Spring:

When wilderness are humming,

And thick coats and heavy jackets are retiring.

Just so you know,

The blanket is not warm enough

To stop my longing for you, Spring.

If winter is a song,

Guaranteed, I’d fast forward it

Right after the very last firework.

He Brought Winter

He brought her winter

So she grabbed her pink Stanley—

A thing of warmth. . . solved!

You I

A song,

A poem,

A dance,

A picture,

A book,

A story,

A bloom,

A spring,

A summer,

Soft.

Kind.

Tender.

Vivid.

Rich.

True.

Pink.

Glorious.

Magical.

On and on. . .

Know Love, Doth?

You do not knock!
You do not introduce yourself!
No ID whatsoever,
Yet I am into thee.

You are like summer days to one sterling Will;
Amid this autumn, even when winter
To me,
You are my spring.

You do not knock!
You do not introduce yourself!
No ID whatsoever,
Yet I yearn for thee.

To thee,
And for thee,
I wave the white flag
In sweet surrender.

Coz your real Owner
Carries a heavy title;
And I am but
A lightweight sojourner.

And in Thy Name,
We conquer
The infinite sky
And abysmal sea,

Oh,
Faceless,
I so long to see:
Thee.

Earth’s Greatest Legacy

In the vast savanna of Africa,
I came to life.
But unlike my cousins,
who lived million years
before me,
I did not inhabit the trees.

I did hunt and join gatherers,
so I may live.
I roamed and thrived in Africa,
and colonized
different corners of the world
through persistence hunting
and the agility
of my bipedal feet.

I survived wilderness
through the culture
more powerful than the blood
running in my stream.

A victim of melting ice
and rising sea levels,
I had to walk and walk
as a nomad,
until I found the rich soils
to plant the foods
that gave me heat.

Though always bullied
by climate change,
I knew:
I should be a guardian
of nature,
or a loyal friend at least,
but never as an enemy–
more so,
its worst enemy.

Tricked by this-worldly side of me,
I was a slave
of my whims and needs.

A willing prisoner
of material possessions
and temporal needs,
I hurt Mother Earth
and compromised my life
and all lives
poorly thinking
that was how
I should live.

Guilty as charged,
and stricken by greed,
I am responsible
for the evil profusion of CO2,
and demonic dependence
on chemicals
and GMOs too.

Indeed,
I am what I am,
but I can overcome my flaws.

For with a willing heart,
and fierce determination,
I still can mend
the wounds
I caused this world–
as I am so endowed
with knowledge and wisdom.

To heal myself,
this world,
and the universe–
from all iniquities–
is now
my utmost priority.

I am
Homo sapien
to scientists;
A man
to many;
And,
I am Earth’s
greatest legacy,
and I will
always be.
