we kept each other’s company:
We basked in the silver sun.
We played with the turquoise ripples kissing my toes like an ardent man.
We managed to get by as drifters rescued by the white and golden sands.
We hardly noticed the sun turned orange, as it was fast going down; and the blue ripples were slowly gone,
My toes gone beige.
My fingers ended purple.
She remained pink in divinity.
She was supple lilac in majesty.
Though I knew crystal clear:
soon she’d wilt in brown . . .
But at that moment,
She looked fragile and lifeless;
And I sounded fierce and tough
However, our skins spoke better-
and it was simply a fact.
