What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
I write because within the words I find
A place to pour my soul, my heart, my mind.
It’s more than just a pastime, just a task,
In every line, I wear no mask.
To write is to reveal the depths of me,
A bridge between what is and what could be.
I pen my truths in ink, so they may land
On other hearts, as tender as my hand.
It is my joy, my pride, my highest aim,
In each creation, I am born again.
Not seeking fame like Shakespeare’s hallowed name,
Nor Dickinson’s quiet, whispered claim,
But as a lover, ardent, fierce, and true,
Of language, words, and what they dare to do.
Through writing, I am relevant, I stand,
A voice that holds the pen within my hand.
It is my worth, my power, my release,
My way to find a gentle, lasting peace.
In every sentence, woven, strong, or frail,
I share a piece of me, my every tale.
And though I write not for the grand applause,
I know my words can fight a quiet cause.
I write to make a difference, small, but bright,
To add a little warmth, a little light.
For in these letters, crafted from my soul,
I know I’ve found the truest sense of whole.
