We’ll steal pecks
in Sunday masses
more often than amens.
We’ll hold pinkies
in store counters
and broken registers.
We’ll tackle each other’s toes
in dinners with our folks
on weekends.
We’ll sing our songs
in the shower, in the tub, in traffics,
and layovers.
We’ll gate crush in wedding receptions;
dance; finger-dip the cake; grab Chardonnays,
until the groom kicks us out; and, the bride say “bummers!”
So take my hand
as I follow your lead;
Let the ants tag along,
as we paint the town pink.
