Petal and Me

For hours,

we kept each other’s company:

We basked in the silver sun;

and, we enjoyed the turquoise ripples–

while we managed to get by as drifters,

blissfully rescued by the white and golden sands.

But as the orange sun was fast going down,

and the blue ripples were slowly gone,

I saw my toes gone beige,

while my fingers ended purple;

Yet  this little she, unbelievably,

remained pink in divinity and red in majesty.

Though I knew–crystal white clear:

soon she’d wilt in golden brown too . . .

But at that very moment,

she may looked pink and fragile;

and I may looked fierce red and though,

but our skins spoke better-

and it was simply, a fact.
